How To Throw a Party on a Budget

For some of us, entertaining is fun. Inviting people over to enjoy an evening of food, drinks, and socializing is a joyful activity, regardless of the time of year. It’s also an easy way to socialize with friends and family when you’re living on a budget and can’t afford to go out on the town. Continue reading for a few tips on how to throw a lively, enjoyable party while keeping costs affordable:

Know the Difference Between What You Need and What You Want

You may have grandiose ideas about what your get-together should be like. Outdoor lanterns, tables set with linen, and complete with a centerpiece to die for. Maybe an open bar, fresh food from the finest caterer, and so on. But just because you want those things for your party, doesn’t mean you need them. Parties are about interaction, not so much the luxurious—but ultimately extraneous—furnishings. Start by deciding what you need to throw a fun party, then move on to the next step.

Hit Up a Discount Store

The store where you’ll find discount party supplies will change depending on your region, but they include places like Family Dollar, Dollar General, and the good old dollar store. You can get cups, plates, dinnerware, snacks, napkins, and decorations at very good prices. You can also find games, accessories, and other party-themed items to really wow your guests!

Need Food? Make it a Potluck!

If you want more than chips and dip at your party but don’t have the cash to buy more food, consider making your party a potluck. People often ask if there’s anything they can bring, anyway! You can provide a main course, and then invite guests to bring their favorite side dishes. Nobody likes showing up empty-handed to a potluck, so there should be plenty of food to go around. Plus, variety is the best!

As far as what you should provide, think about dishes that offer a relatively high-volume of food for low-cost. Rice, salad, and pasta would work well here.

What About Alcohol?

It isn’t easy to save on alcohol, but there is a way. If you’re not a fan of cheap beer, look and see which spirits are on sale and buy a few bottles of that. Then, design a signature drink (or look one up online – hello, Martha Stewart) that uses that type of liquor and provide it at the party. It’s much, much less expensive to provide one type of drink than it is to try and meet every guest’s taste. Buy in bulk at beverage stores to save even more!

Shop Cure N Go Products

If you’re going to be consuming alcohol at your party, and you don’t want to feel hungover or burnt out the next day, make sure to pick up Cure N Go’s Replenish Pack. It includes our Before & After Patches and Enzyme Rehydration Drinks. Both of these products help aid in the breakdown of toxic chemicals that result from the metabolization of alcohol, which are mainly responsible for your discomfort the morning after. Talk about a quick fix to a long night!
